Supermodel in  the making, Chanel Iman is gracing the cover of Korean Vogue. She also appears on the inside in a fabulous fashion spread. Chanel is the “it” model of the moment and I am happy to see someone of color more frequently, but it would be nice to see more black high fashion models.

The last time a black model walked in a Gucci Runway show was in 2004, that is until this week. Chanel Iman walked twice in the Gucci 2009 spring show. It is about time, and absolutely ridiculous that it took so long for some diversity to be included on the Gucci runway. If you are an African-American consumer think about this little tidbit next time you are about to by your next Gucci handbag and/or shoes.

Naomi Campbell and Chanel Iman strutted the catwalk for Naomi’s Fashion for Relief Annual Fashion Show in London. They both look fierce and are working it on the runway. I wish I could’ve been at this show to see Naomi, an iconic supermodel and Chanel, a supermodel in the making.

I have to say I am very excited to see more African-Americans on the runway during fashion week. After last year’s white-out in many designer’s shows. This presence of diversity is much needed. I am by no way totally satisfied with the amount of black models actually used, but it is a great step forward for future fashion weeks.

The other night Vibe Magazine celebrated its 15th birthday. It was definitely a stylish event, and many celebrities were in attendance. Chanel Iman was stunning in Givenchy, and I am currently obsessed with her black fringe boots. She previously wore them to the Tyra celebration of the all black Vogue issue. Estelle look pretty in Basso and Brooke. Cassie was definitely a scene stealer in her ensemble. Her and Chanel Iman look like they could be related. Both are gorgeous.

Up and coming black model, Chanel Iman is really making her mark on the fashion industry. Not only is she appearing in the pages of American and Italian Vogue, but now she will be working for Victoria’s Secret.
